The first-place Los Angeles Sol (Women's Professional Soccer) has signed defender Sharolta Nonen. She will replace Christie Shaner, who underwent surgery last Monday to repair a mid-shaft fracture in her tibia/fibula, the club announced today. Per club and WPS policy, terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
Nonen, 31, has recorded 58 national team caps with the Canadian National Team and played in the 1999 and 2003 World Cup. She also played in the WUSA with the Atlanta Beat from 2...

Sky Blue FC and the Washington Freedom have faced off three times this season. But Saturday’s first-round WPS playoff match is the biggest match yet for the East Coast rivals. The last time they met, Washington handed Sky Blue a 3-1 loss and almost ended their playoff hopes.
